Ruturaj Gaikwad Joins India A Squad for Sri Lanka Tri-Series
Gaikwad's Return to India A
Ruturaj Gaikwad has been brought back into the India A team for the upcoming tri-series in Sri Lanka, stepping in for Riyan Parag, who is sidelined due to a hamstring injury and will be undergoing rehabilitation at the BCCI Centre of Excellence.
Opportunity for Gaikwad
This selection offers Gaikwad a crucial chance to regain his form and confidence after a tough IPL 2026 season. As the captain of Chennai Super Kings, he faced challenges, accumulating only 337 runs with an average of 28.08 and a strike rate of 123.44, which is below his usual performance standards. The India A team is set to begin their tri-series on June 9, right after the IPL concludes.
BCCI Announces Squad Update
"The Men's Selection Committee has included Ruturaj Gaikwad in the India A squad for the upcoming tri-series in Sri Lanka. He will take the place of vice-captain Riyan Parag, who is out due to a hamstring injury. Riyan's rehabilitation will be overseen by the BCCI Centre of Excellence," stated the BCCI.

The tri-series will feature teams from India A, Sri Lanka A, and Afghanistan A, with all matches scheduled to take place in Dambulla. After the limited-overs matches, the tour will proceed to Galle, where India A will compete against Sri Lanka A in two multi-day matches as part of their preparations for red-ball cricket.
