On Wednesday night, emergency responders in Southern California faced a swiftly spreading brush fire in Chino Hills, which prompted evacuation orders in several residential areas. The wildfire, designated as the Grand Fire, ignited near Grand Avenue, close to Pleasant Hill Drive in San Bernardino County, and rapidly escalated as firefighters worked to contain it and prevent it from encroaching on populated regions. Reports from WatchDuty indicated that by late evening, the fire had expanded to nearly 30 acres and posed a significant threat to nearby structures. Incident commanders escalated the emergency response to a second alarm as conditions deteriorated and fire activity intensified on both sides of Grand Avenue. Authorities cautioned that the fire could potentially grow to between 100 and 200 acres if not swiftly contained.

The Chino Valley Fire District reported that crews were dispatched shortly before 7 p.m. local time to address a vegetation fire near Grand Avenue Park in Chino Hills. The Chino Hills Community Center on Peyton Drive was designated as an evacuation center for those displaced, with provisions made for pets as well.

Evacuation warnings were also issued for several nearby streets, including Pleasant Hill Drive, Ashbury Drive, Auburn Court, and Morning Terrace Drive, advising residents to prepare for possible immediate evacuation should conditions worsen. Law enforcement was deployed throughout the affected neighborhoods to assist with evacuations and secure restricted areas.
