Purig Warriors Shock Defending Champions Kangs Sing
In a stunning turn of events, Purig Warriors became the first team to defeat the reigning champions, Kangs Sing, during the Ice Hockey League Season 3 at the Nawang Dorjay Stobdan (NDS) Stadium in Leh. This event was organized in collaboration with the UT Administration of Ladakh and the Ice Hockey Association of Ladakh. Purig's 4-2 victory ended Kangs' unbeaten streak, showcasing their resilience as they overturned a second-period deficit.
The match began with a tightly contested first period that ended without any goals. Kangs Sing broke the deadlock early in the second period through Gonbo Tashi. However, Purig's captain, Sajjad Hussain, quickly equalized with a well-placed drag shot from the center. Following this, Zakir Hussain scored two goals in rapid succession, giving Purig a commanding lead. Although Kangs managed to score again through Sonam Wangail, Bashar Ahmad sealed the win for Purig with a decisive drag shot just 20 seconds before the final whistle.

Kharu Falcons achieved a hard-fought 4-2 victory against United Nubra. The first period saw both teams create opportunities but fail to score. Changla Blasters delivered an impressive 7-2 victory against Maryul Spawo. Stanzin Norboo opened the scoring early and later capped off the match with the final goal. Both Norboo and Rigzin Dorjey netted two goals each, while captain Namgyal Norboo, Jigmet Deskong, and Stanzin Namgyal added to the tally with close-range goals. Maryul Spawo managed to score through Asif Ali and Stanzin Tundup but could not keep pace with the Blasters.
Shakar Chiktan Royals Secure Close Win
Shakar Chiktan Royals concluded the day with a narrow 3-2 victory over Zanskar Chadar Tamers. Mohd Iqbal opened the scoring with a tap-in midway through the first period, and the Royals held a 1-0 lead at halftime. The second period saw no goals despite several chances. Rinchen Wangyal equalized for Zanskar with a tap-in early in the third, but Gulzar Hussain restored the Royals' lead with a slapshot. Tsering Sangay equalized again shortly after, but Syed Mehdi scored the decisive goal for the Royals with a wrist shot.
