The outage was reported around 9:20 a.m., leading to a ground stop being implemented shortly thereafter. Even after more than an hour, certain areas of the airport remained without power. Passengers reported to CBS News that boarding processes were halted, and the outage impacted essential facilities, including restrooms. Photos taken inside the airport depicted large groups of travelers waiting, unable to access their gates due to the halted train services or delays in boarding their flights. The ground stop also meant that incoming flights were unable to land. The Federal Aviation Administration attributed the incident to an “equipment failure” on its website. Airport officials indicated that technicians were actively working to restore power but did not specify when normal operations would resume. Most travelers at the airport depend on an internal train system to navigate to gates in concourses A, B, and C, although those departing from Concourse A have the option to walk from the Jeppesen Terminal. This disruption coincides with a peak travel period during spring break, with airport authorities anticipating over 80,000 passengers daily to pass through security from last weekend through the upcoming weekend. Travelers have been advised to arrive at least two hours prior to their flights and to check online for wait times.
