The fire began shortly after 1 PM near 21380 Centre Pointe Parkway, with firefighters from Los Angeles County dispatched at 1:40 PM. A second alarm was raised at 2:08 PM due to the fire's swift expansion.

As reported by ABC7, by 2:15 PM, the fire had consumed approximately five acres, with officials cautioning that it could extend to 100 acres within the hour due to the prevailing fire conditions. By 2:45 PM, the incident command indicated that the fire had expanded to 30 acres, although firefighters were making headway in establishing and reinforcing perimeter control.

Evacuation Warning Issued

Officials have issued an evacuation warning for Centre Pointe Parkway, advising residents to prepare for potential evacuation or to leave early if they require more time. The Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station posted on Facebook: "An evacuation warning has been issued for Centre Pointe Pkwy. Prepare to leave if you live here or are nearby. Consider leaving now if you need more time to evacuate. Call 911 for emergency assistance." A reunification center for those evacuated has been set up at the Santa Clarita Aquatic Center, located at 20850 Centre Pointe Parkway.

Radio communications revealed that structures along Doreen Place were at immediate risk from the advancing fire. An evacuation warning was also issued for Zone SCL-CARLBOYER as firefighters worked to halt the fire's progression. Dramatic footage from the scene depicted young students being hurried to their families' vehicles while flames approached dangerously close to a nearby school.

The fire broke out as much of Southern California remained under an Extreme Heat Warning, with Wednesday anticipated to be the hottest day of the ongoing heat wave. The blaze also caused disruptions in transportation, with Metrolink services suspended between Via Princessa and Newhall while firefighters continued their efforts. Officials have yet to announce when train services will resume.
