Prime Minister's Interaction with Astronaut

On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi engaged in a video call with Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla, who is currently stationed on the International Space Station (ISS) as part of the Axiom-4 mission.

During their conversation, PM Modi inquired about Shukla's initial thoughts upon arriving in space. Shukla expressed that his first sight of Earth was awe-inspiring, noting that from space, the planet appears unified without visible borders. He remarked, "When we saw India for the first time, it looked grand and much larger than depicted on maps. From this perspective, it feels like there are no borders, and we are all part of one humanity, sharing this planet as our home."

PM Modi also asked about the conditions in space and how Shukla was adjusting. Shukla explained, "Everything is different here. We trained for a year, but once I arrived, I realized that even the smallest things change due to the lack of gravity. Sleeping is particularly challenging, and it takes time to adapt to this new environment."

Shukla shared a fascinating detail about his view from the ISS, stating, "A short while ago, I was looking out the window and saw we were flying over Hawaii. From orbit, we experience sunrises and sunsets 16 times a day. Our nation is progressing rapidly."

In a lighter moment, PM Modi asked Shukla if he had brought along the 'Gajar ka halwa.' Shukla confirmed, saying, "Yes, I brought gajar ka halwa, moong dal ka halwa, and aam ras. I wanted my international colleagues to enjoy the rich flavors of Indian cuisine. We all shared it together, and everyone loved it."

Shukla expressed gratitude to PM Modi, stating, "I am safe and well here. This experience is remarkable. This journey represents not just my personal achievement but that of our entire nation. Under your leadership, India is now filled with opportunities for everyone to realize their dreams. I am proud to represent India here."

Finally, Shukla remarked, "I am absorbing all the lessons and experiences like a sponge. I believe these insights will be invaluable for us and will be applied effectively in future missions."
