PM Modi Addresses G7 Outreach Session: Focus on Terrorism and Global South Challenges

PM Modi's Key Address at G7 Outreach Session
On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in the G7 Outreach Session in Kananaskis, Alberta, Canada. During his speech focused on Energy Security, he addressed pressing issues such as terrorism, conflicts, and the rise of deep fakes. Modi emphasized India's commitment to voicing the priorities and concerns of the Global South on the global stage, asserting that terrorism poses a threat to humanity and calling for decisive policies to foster global peace.
Modi highlighted the need for a unified stance against terrorism, referencing the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, which he described as an assault on the essence and dignity of all Indians. He stated, "The attack on April 22 was not just an attack on Pahalgam; it was an attack on the soul of humanity."
He further remarked, "Terrorism is an enemy of humanity and contradicts the values upheld by democratic nations. For lasting peace and prosperity, our policies must be unequivocal—nations that support terrorism must face consequences."
The Prime Minister pointed out the hypocrisy in international responses, noting that while some countries face sanctions, others that support terrorism are rewarded. He stressed that nations in the Global South are disproportionately affected by instability and crises related to food, fuel, and finance, reiterating India's role in advocating for their concerns.
Modi also raised alarms about the dangers posed by deep fakes, urging for clear labeling of AI-generated content. He stated, "In the past century, we competed for energy; in this century, we must collaborate on technology."
He underscored the importance of ensuring energy security through sustainable and green initiatives, detailing India's global efforts such as the International Solar Alliance (ISA), Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI), and the Global Biofuels Alliance.
