Pakistan's Military Operation: Heavy Losses Inflicted on Afghan Taliban
Significant Military Action Against Afghan Taliban
Islamabad: Recent reports indicate that Pakistan's military has successfully eliminated 583 members of the Afghan Taliban during a military campaign initiated last month along the border. This operation, named Operation Ghazab lil-Haq, commenced on February 26 following a series of attacks by the Afghan Taliban on 53 border locations.
Information Minister Attaullah Tarar provided updates via social media, revealing that the Taliban's casualties include not only the deceased but also 795 individuals who sustained injuries.
The operation has led to the destruction of 242 Taliban checkpoints, with an additional 38 posts captured and subsequently demolished.
Furthermore, Tarar noted that 213 Taliban tanks, armored vehicles, and artillery pieces have been neutralized, alongside effective airstrikes on 64 sites within Afghanistan.
In a related incident, Pakistani forces successfully thwarted an infiltration attempt by three Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) militants in the Chaman border region. During the confrontation, one militant was killed, while the others were injured but managed to flee.
The troops recovered several improvised explosive devices and equipment for cutting through fences from the deceased militant.
Earlier reports indicated that numerous Afghan Taliban positions were targeted and destroyed during an aerial assault in the North Waziristan district.
Pakistan asserts that the Afghan Taliban have incurred substantial losses in this ongoing operation, which aims to eradicate the threat posed by cross-border militancy.
