Pakistan Intensifies Military Action Against Afghan Taliban Amid Ongoing Conflict

Islamabad: Pakistan has ramped up its military operations against the Afghan Taliban, with reports indicating that security forces have successfully targeted an ammunition storage facility, according to state media on Monday.

The offensive, dubbed 'Operation Ghazab lil Haq', was initiated last week following assaults by Afghan Taliban forces on 53 sites along the extensive 2,600-kilometer border.

Information Minister Attaullah Tarar announced on Sunday that the military campaign has resulted in the deaths of 415 Afghan Taliban members and left over 580 others injured.

State-run Pakistan Television (PTV) reported that Pakistani troops have effectively neutralized an ammunition depot located in Khost, as the army continues its 'vigorous and powerful counter-attacks' against Taliban aggression.

"The Pak Army has successfully destroyed the ammunition depot of Fitna al-Khawarij and the Afghan Taliban in Khost. Both the Fitna al-Khawarij and the Afghan Taliban regime are experiencing a total retreat on all fronts following their unprovoked aggression along the Pak-Afghan border," the report stated.

Afghan sources have indicated that Pakistan has intensified airstrikes targeting the Bagram air base, although there has been no official acknowledgment from Pakistan regarding these actions.

The conflict shows no signs of abating, as Pakistani forces continue to dismantle the Taliban's security framework, which was reportedly utilized in a recent attack that escalated the current hostilities, according to security insiders.

Despite attempts by Gulf nations, including Qatar and Saudi Arabia, to mediate following the outbreak of conflict, the ongoing tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan appear to be overshadowed by broader issues in West Asia.
