Pakistan Exits World Championship of Legends Season 3 Amid Unforeseen Circumstances
Pakistan's Withdrawal from WCL Season 3
On Monday, Pakistan officially announced its exit from the World Championship of Legends (WCL) Season 3 due to unexpected circumstances, concluding its participation in the tournament.
The Pakistan Champions made this decision after their initial match was postponed for technical reasons, leading to an early end to their campaign in the 2026 season.
According to a statement from WCL, "Pakistan Champions will not be participating in WCL Season 3 due to unforeseen circumstances. The tournament continues with six teams, and the legends are still in action."
Historical Context and Previous Tensions
In past tournaments, the Pakistan Champions have shown strong performances, finishing as runners-up in both of the first two editions, losing to India in the 2024 final and to South Africa in the 2025 championship match.
India-Pakistan Matchups in 2025
During the last edition, the India Champions opted not to compete against the Pakistan Champions, citing geopolitical tensions and public sentiment following the Pahalgam terror attack.
As a result, India Champions withdrew from their scheduled semi-final against Pakistan Champions in the 2025 WCL, allowing Pakistan to advance directly to the final.
The Indian team, which included notable former players like Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina, and Harbhajan Singh, chose not to take the field due to the prevailing tensions between the two nations.
This marked the second instance in the tournament where India Champions withdrew from a match against Pakistan Champions, as their earlier group stage encounter was also canceled for similar reasons.
