NIA Targets Hafiz Saeed in Pahalgam Terror Attack Investigation
NIA Charges Hafiz Saeed in Terror Case
New Delhi: On Monday, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) officially named Hafiz Saeed, the leader of Lashkar-e-Taiba, as a suspect in the supplementary chargesheet related to the Pahalgam terror incident.
The chargesheet, submitted to the NIA special court in Jammu, implicates Saeed both as an individual and in his capacity as the head of the banned LeT and its active affiliate, The Resistance Front (TRF), according to an NIA announcement.
Saeed faces multiple charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967. He is accused of waging war against India and orchestrating a conspiracy from Pakistan.
This supplementary document builds upon the original 1,597-page chargesheet, detailing the conspiracy orchestrated by Pakistan, Saeed's involvement, and the evidence gathered through thorough scientific investigation and fieldwork.
Previously, on December 15, 2025, the NIA had identified Pakistani handler Sajid Jatt as an accused, along with three terrorists who were killed during Operation Mahadev in July 2025, and two others who were arrested.
The NIA has also charged the banned LeT/TRF organization as a legal entity for its involvement in the planning, facilitation, and execution of the Pahalgam attack.
The tragic incident on April 22 last year resulted in the deaths of 25 tourists and a local individual, all victims of the Pakistan-backed terrorists.
Initially, an FIR was lodged at the Pahalgam police station, but following preliminary investigations, the case was handed over to the NIA by the Union Home Ministry.
The NIA is committed to uncovering the full extent of the conspiracy orchestrated by Pakistan, which has been actively supporting terrorism against India from across the border.
