Nepal Moves Forward with New Ambassador Appointments: Who's Heading Where?
Nepal's Parliamentary Committee Approves New Ambassadors
Kathmandu: On Wednesday, a parliamentary committee in Nepal approved the nominations for ambassadors to ten different nations, including India, as confirmed by an official source.
The Parliamentary Hearing Committee has put its stamp of approval on Nischal Nath Pandey as the ambassador to India, Kalyan Raj Sharma for China, and Chiranjung Thapa for the United States, according to Ekram Giri, spokesperson for the Parliament Secretariat.
Additionally, nominees for the United Kingdom, Germany, Israel, Oman, South Korea, Spain, and Sri Lanka were also endorsed by the committee.
This decision follows a cabinet recommendation made on September 18, which included 13 names for ambassadorial positions, although three of those candidates are still pending approval from the Parliamentary Hearing Committee.
Once the parliamentary endorsement is finalized, the proposed names will be forwarded to the respective countries for their consent before the official appointments of Nepal's ambassadors take place.
This consent is a formal agreement from the host nation to accept the proposed ambassador or head of mission prior to their official appointment.
