Murder Charges Filed Against Ciarre Campbell Following Mother's Death
Tragic Incident in Atlanta
Ciarre Campbell, brother of NFL player Calais Campbell, faces murder charges after the death of their 71-year-old mother, Nateal Campbell. Her body was discovered during a welfare check at her Atlanta residence. Fulton County Jail records indicate that 41-year-old Ciarre has been charged with murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a weapon. Authorities responded to the Buckhead townhouse on Tuesday following a request for a welfare check from a concerned family member.
Upon arrival, police found Nateal Campbell unresponsive. Arrest warrants suggest that her throat had been cut, and Ciarre was reportedly found with a knife. Officers noted that he had barricaded himself inside the home before being apprehended. He is currently being held without bond after opting to waive his initial court appearance.
A 911 call released by authorities features an unidentified man requesting the welfare check, stating that he, along with his brother and sister-in-law, was outside their mother's home trying to gain entry. He mentioned another brother, described as 'mentally ill,' who was living with their mother and claimed she had left, despite evidence from a neighbor's security camera suggesting otherwise. Police had previously responded to the residence for incidents involving Ciarre, including a potential mental health crisis and an arson incident in April.

Ciarre Campbell, aged 41, is the brother of Calais Campbell, a six-time Pro Bowl defensive lineman. He has been charged with murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a weapon in connection with his mother's death.
