Suicide Attack in Karachi Sparks Security Response

A suspected suicide bombing occurred close to the Sindh Rangers headquarters in Karachi, Pakistan, on Saturday, resulting in a series of explosions and a fierce gunfight. Initial reports indicate that a suicide bomber detonated explosives near the Rangers' compound, while other assailants opened fire on security forces, leading to a gun battle that reportedly lasted around 30 minutes.

Witnesses described a significant initial blast followed by two smaller explosions, with heavy gunfire resonating throughout the area as security forces engaged the attackers. So far, reports indicate approximately eight fatalities, with several individuals critically injured.

The incident took place in the Gulistan-e-Jauhar neighborhood, a key thoroughfare connecting various universities and the Pakistan Meteorological Department. Emergency responders, including police and Rangers, quickly arrived at the scene after reports of the explosions and gunfire emerged. Authorities promptly cordoned off the area to facilitate a clearance operation and search for any remaining attackers.
