New Delhi: On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi engaged in discussions with Sultan Haitham bin Tarik of Oman and Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah of Kuwait, expressing his worries regarding the recent attacks affecting their nations amid the ongoing West Asia conflict, according to officials.
During these phone calls, Modi also addressed the safety and welfare of the Indian diaspora in these countries.
An official statement noted, "The Prime Minister had significant conversations with two key Gulf leaders on Tuesday afternoon, including a call with the Sultan of Oman and another with the Crown Prince of Kuwait."
In these discussions, Modi reiterated his concerns about the violence in their nations and highlighted the importance of ensuring the safety of the Indian community.
These calls were prompted by a coordinated military action against Iran by the United States and Israel, which resulted in the death of Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. In response, Iran has launched drone and missile strikes targeting Israel and U.S. military bases in the Gulf, as well as major business and aviation centers in Dubai and Doha.
In recent days, Modi has also reached out to the King of Bahrain and the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, condemning the attacks on these nations that violate their sovereignty and territorial integrity, affirming India's solidarity with their citizens during this challenging time.
Additionally, Modi has communicated with King Abdullah II of Jordan, expressing grave concern over the escalating situation in the region.
He has also had discussions with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
