Major Military Operation in Balochistan: Over 200 Terrorists Neutralized
Significant Military Action in Balochistan
Islamabad: A recent military operation in Balochistan has resulted in the deaths of at least 216 terrorists, alongside 36 civilians and 22 security personnel, according to the Pakistan Army's announcement on Thursday.
The operation, named Radd-ul-Fitna-1, was initiated on January 26 and has now been declared successfully concluded by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the military's communication branch.
The army reported that the operations commenced in Panjgur and the outskirts of Harnai district following credible intelligence regarding terrorist activities.
During this phase, security forces targeted known terrorist hideouts, leading to the elimination of 41 terrorists.
The military stated that their decisive actions effectively countered the attacks.
The ISPR noted, "Through these coordinated efforts and subsequent clearance operations, 216 terrorists have been neutralized, significantly undermining the leadership and operational capabilities of terrorist networks."
The operations, however, also resulted in the tragic loss of 36 civilians, including women and children, and 22 members of law enforcement.
The statement further accused "Indian-sponsored terrorist elements" of attempting to disrupt peace and development in the region.
India has firmly rejected these allegations, labeling them as unfounded and a diversion from Pakistan's internal issues.
In related news, railway services in Balochistan have resumed after a five-day suspension due to security concerns following the recent terror attacks.
A spokesperson for Pakistan Railways, Muhammad Kashif, explained that the suspension was necessary due to damage to railway tracks during the attacks.
On Tuesday, Pakistan's National Assembly passed a resolution calling for a more aggressive national strategy to combat external sponsors of militancy and their local supporters.
Balochistan, which shares borders with Iran and Afghanistan, has been the site of a prolonged insurgency, with Baloch militant groups previously targeting the USD 60 billion China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects.
In a notable incident in 2025, the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) claimed responsibility for the hijacking of the Jaffar Express train, resulting in the deaths of 31 individuals and the hostage situation of over 300 passengers.
