Significant Drug Seizure at Lagos Port

Abuja: In a significant operation, Nigeria's anti-drug agency has apprehended 22 Indian crew members from the merchant ship MV Aruna Hulya following the discovery of 31.5 kilograms of cocaine at the Apapa Port in Lagos.

According to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), the drugs were recovered on Friday at the GDNL terminal, as reported by a local news outlet.

Femi Babafemi, the agency's Director of Media and Advocacy, confirmed that those detained include the ship's captain, Sharma Shashi Bhushan, along with 21 other crew members. The cocaine was found in hatch three of the vessel, which had originated from the Marshall Islands.

Additionally, the agency has disrupted a drug supply network in Borno, leading to the arrest of two suppliers and the confiscation of substantial amounts of illegal substances.
