Jordan's Ambassador Urges Peace Talks Amid Lebanon Crisis
Call for Immediate Dialogue
The Ambassador of Jordan to India, Yousef Abdelghani, expressed serious concerns regarding the escalating situation in Lebanon during a recent interview. He emphasized the urgent need to halt hostilities and return to diplomatic discussions. He stated, “Jordan condemns the aggressive policies of Israel, which are not only affecting Lebanon but also Gaza.” The ambassador pointed out that the ongoing conflict is destabilizing the entire region, leading to increased tensions.
Abdelghani asserted that violence will not yield solutions, advocating for peace through dialogue. He remarked, “True peace for Israel can only be achieved through peaceful means,” urging all parties to de-escalate and prioritize negotiations. He warned that military confrontations would only exacerbate the crisis and highlighted the necessity of shifting from conflict to communication, as dialogue is essential for resolving long-standing disputes.
Discussing the broader regional implications, the ambassador noted that reliance on force and control cannot foster stability. He stated, “Buffer zones, wars, walls, and policies of domination will not lead to peace for Israel.” He raised alarms about the increasing tensions and negative rhetoric, cautioning that such trends could further undermine peace prospects. He emphasized that without building trust and engaging calmly, the region risks descending into deeper conflict.
Abdelghani called for immediate diplomatic initiatives, asserting that now is the critical moment for action. “Israel should take advantage of this opportunity,” he remarked, indicating that there is a willingness among regional stakeholders to pursue peace talks. He reiterated that agreements with neighboring nations could pave the way for long-term peace and stability. The ambassador concluded by stressing the importance of halting violence and moving towards substantial negotiations, warning that any delay would complicate resolution efforts.
