Meloni characterized these ongoing and unsolicited criticisms as "senseless." In a direct response to Trump's comments on Truth Social, she took to Instagram, stating, "President Trump, these constant, unprovoked attacks are senseless."

Trump also claimed that Meloni's popularity in Italy had waned due to her stance against the US's efforts to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons. In her rebuttal, she asserted, "Regarding my popularity, being your friend has certainly not aided it, nor does it hinge on my relationship with you.
