Hamas Leader's Death Confirmed by Israeli Forces

The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) have announced the death of Muhammed Odeh, the military leader of Hamas, in Gaza. Odeh was recently appointed to lead Hamas's military operations, taking over from Ezzedine al-Haddad. According to Israeli officials, he played a significant role as the head of Hamas's intelligence during the attacks on October 7.

In a related development, Israel has intensified its military actions in Lebanon, as reported by the Prime Minister's Office. This escalation was directed by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defence Minister Israel Katz, who confirmed the operations via a post on social media. Netanyahu emphasized the commitment to eliminate all individuals involved in the October 7 attacks, stating, "We have now struck Muhammad Odeh—the leader of Hamas's military wing and one of the architects of the October 7 massacre. We will get to all of them."

Netanyahu further accused Odeh of orchestrating the murder, kidnapping, and injury of numerous Israeli citizens and IDF personnel. He praised the IDF and the ISA for their relentless efforts to eliminate threats, asserting that Israel would eventually reach all those responsible for the October 7 attacks.

Following the cross-border assault by Hamas, Israel has launched a series of targeted operations against senior Hamas leaders and militant commanders in Gaza and the surrounding areas. Recently, the IDF conducted over 120 airstrikes across Lebanon, expanding ground operations beyond its established security zone amid rising tensions with Hezbollah. Lebanese security sources indicated that the recent bombardments were among the most intense in recent weeks, affecting various regions in southern and eastern Lebanon. This escalation occurred despite a ceasefire declared on April 16, aimed at curbing hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah, which is backed by Iran. Netanyahu stated that the Israeli military is intensifying its operations in Lebanon to secure and control areas along the border.
