Iran's Response to Trump's Allegations

Tehran: On Tuesday, Iranian officials dismissed assertions made by US President Donald Trump regarding the execution of eight Iranian women detained during protests in January. Trump had called on the Iranian government to release these women prior to any negotiations. The Iranian Judiciary's Mizan Online website stated, "Trump has once again been misled by false information." They further clarified that some of the women mentioned had already been freed, while others face charges that, if upheld, would lead to imprisonment rather than execution.

Reports indicate that Iran has executed at least one woman linked to the protests, and another is facing charges that could result in the death penalty, according to a human rights organization. Trump emphasized that releasing these women would benefit Iran in upcoming peace talks, stating, "To the Iranian leaders, who will soon be in negotiations with my representatives: I would greatly appreciate the release of these women. I am sure that they will respect the fact that you did so. Please do them no harm! Would be a great start to our negotiations!!!" This message was shared on the White House's X account.

Masih Alinejad, an Iranian-American activist, shared the names of the eight women on her X account. One of them, Bita Hemmati, has reportedly been sentenced to death alongside her husband and two others for allegedly throwing concrete blocks at security forces in Tehran.

Another woman, Mahboubeh Shabani, faces charges of "waging war against God" for reportedly using her motorcycle to transport injured protesters in Mashhad. She is currently held in the women's section of Vakilabad prison in Mashhad, as reported by various media outlets.

Additionally, on Tuesday, Trump announced an extension of the ceasefire with Iran.
