Iran Protests Escalate: Death Toll Rises Amid Communication Blackouts

The protests in Iran have escalated, leading to a reported death toll of at least 203 individuals, including both protesters and security forces. Activists warn that the actual number may be much higher due to communication blackouts that hinder accurate reporting. The Iranian government has not provided official casualty figures, complicating efforts to assess the situation. As internet access remains restricted, independent verification of these claims has become increasingly difficult.

Rising Casualties Amid Ongoing Unrest in Iran

Dubai: The ongoing protests in Iran have turned increasingly violent, resulting in at least 203 fatalities, with activists expressing concerns that the actual number may be significantly higher.

The situation has become more challenging to monitor from outside the country due to internet outages and disrupted phone services. According to the US-based Human Rights Activists News Agency, the death toll has surged dramatically.

Among those who have lost their lives, 162 are reported to be protesters, while 41 are identified as security personnel.

This organization, which verifies information through local activists, has previously provided reliable casualty figures during earlier unrest in Iran. However, the Iranian authorities have not released any official numbers regarding the casualties from the protests.

Due to the current restrictions on internet access and international calls, the Associated Press has been unable to independently verify the reported death toll.
