Iran's Stern Warning to Foreign Powers

In a recent statement, Iran has cautioned both the United States and Israel against any potential military actions as the nation prepares for the funeral of its former Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. An Iranian military official emphasized that any aggression would be met with severe retaliation. This warning comes as Iran organizes the state funeral for Khamenei, who lost his life during airstrikes on the inaugural day of the US-Israel-Iran conflict.

Ali Abdollahi, commander of Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, conveyed a strong message through state media, urging adversaries, particularly the U.S. and Israel, to avoid miscalculations. He stated, 'We advise our enemies to consider the severe consequences our armed forces would impose in response to any threats against our nation.'

Earlier, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi echoed similar sentiments, asserting that Tehran would respond decisively to any threats directed at its leadership or citizens, particularly following remarks from Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz, who suggested that Iran's current Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, was 'marked for death.'

Furthermore, Iran's Parliamentary Speaker, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, has called for a significant turnout at Khamenei’s funeral, scheduled for this weekend. He urged the Iranian populace to participate in what he described as a momentous event in the history of Islamic Iran, stating, 'The nation’s call for vengeance must resonate throughout the world.'

Khamenei, who led Iran for thirty years, passed away on February 28. His funeral services are set to occur in Tehran and Qom on July 5, 6, and 7, with the concluding ceremony taking place in Mashhad on July 9. Representing India at the burial ceremonies will be Minister of State for External Affairs Pabitra Margherita and Bihar Governor Syed Ata Hasnain, as announced by the Ministry of External Affairs.
