Iran Issues Stark Warning to ICT Firms Following Attack on Amazon Facility

In a recent escalation, Iran has issued a warning to information and communication technology (ICT) firms in the region, a day after an attack on an Amazon facility in Bahrain. A spokesperson from Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Headquarters stated that these companies could be considered potential targets if the United States continues its threats against Iran's energy infrastructure.

The spokesperson emphasized that any aggression towards Iran's power plants would provoke a swift response, threatening the complete destruction of energy and ICT infrastructures associated with the 'Zionist regime' and American-owned firms in the area. The message included a statement suggesting that 'nothing is concealed from our observation, even if obscured by Google.'

The video released highlighted the Stargate AI computing cluster located in the UAE and featured images of executives from major companies like Nvidia, OpenAI, Microsoft, and Goldman Sachs.

According to a report from the Financial Times, the Iranian strike resulted in damage to Amazon's cloud services in Bahrain, with the local interior ministry confirming that civil defense teams were engaged in extinguishing a fire at the site.

This warning follows previous threats from Iran's Revolutionary Guards, which had identified US companies such as Microsoft, Apple, Google, and Meta as potential targets. A similar advisory issued earlier this year listed 18 American firms in the tech and finance sectors.

In a message on Telegram, the IRGC accused these companies of serving as proxies for the US government and contributing to military operations, asserting that American ICT and AI firms are integral to designing and tracking terror targets, thus making them legitimate targets.

Last month, Amazon acknowledged disruptions in its cloud services, Amazon Web Services (AWS), in Bahrain amid the ongoing regional conflict.
