Celebration of Gita Mahotsav in Ottawa

On December 8, the Indian High Commission in Ottawa marked the International Gita Mahotsav by presenting 'Uttar ~ Answer', a thematic musical dance ballet inspired by the Bhagavad Gita.

This event took place at the Kailash Mital Theatre of Carleton University, organized in partnership with Jeevan Jyoti Performing Arts (JJPA).

The performance depicted the intense dialogue from the Bhagavad Gita, set against the backdrop of a battlefield, exploring themes of truth, duty, and the philosophical dilemmas of human existence. The choreography creatively interpreted the verses of the Gita through movement and rhythm, as shared by the Indian High Commission on X.

Dinesh K. Patnaik, the Indian High Commissioner to Canada, addressed attendees, highlighting that the Bhagavad Gita's teachings extend beyond spiritual wisdom, representing a vital aspect of India's cultural heritage that fosters harmony and resilience in contemporary society.

Globally, Indian missions have been commemorating the International Gita Mahotsav 2025, emphasizing the enduring spiritual and philosophical insights of the Bhagavad Gita.

This festival is celebrated to honor the teachings of duty and righteousness on Ekadashi, the 11th lunar day of the Shukla Paksha in the month of Margashirsha, marking the occasion when Lord Krishna imparted the Gita's wisdom to Arjun on the battlefield of Kurukshetra.

Previously, on December 6, the International Gita Mahotsav was also celebrated in Toronto by the Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan, where the Indian Consul in Toronto, Kuljeet Singh Arora, discussed the Gita's teachings and their relevance to diplomacy and service. The event featured live devotional bhajans, stage performances, and spiritual discussions.
