Monitoring Security for Indian Nationals

On Sunday, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) confirmed that the Indian Embassy in Tehran is closely observing the escalating security situation in the region. The embassy is maintaining regular communication with Indian students to ensure their safety, and in some instances, students are being moved to safer locations within Iran. This comes as the conflict between Iran and Israel intensifies, with hostilities continuing into a third day. The Indian government is actively monitoring developments and has issued alerts to its citizens in the area.

Coordinated Efforts for Safety

In addition to ongoing monitoring, the MEA is considering further safety measures. Embassy officials are collaborating with community leaders to enhance the protection of Indian nationals. The MEA's statement emphasized, 'The Indian Embassy in Tehran is continuously monitoring the security situation and engaging Indian students in Iran to ensure their safety. In some cases, students are being relocated with the Embassy’s facilitation to safer places within Iran. Other feasible options are also under examination. Separately, the Embassy is in touch with community leaders regarding welfare and safety.'

Advisory Issued by Indian Embassy in Israel

Simultaneously, the Indian Embassy in Israel has issued an advisory for the Indian community amid the ongoing tensions. In a message posted on X, the Embassy stated, 'The Embassy of India in Tel Aviv is in contact with members of the Indian community in Israel, including caregivers, workers, students, businessmen, and tourist groups. All necessary measures are being taken to ensure their safety and well-being.' The Embassy is closely monitoring the situation and is in regular communication with Israeli authorities.

Safety Protocols for Indian Nationals

'As you know, a National Emergency has been declared by the Government of Israel. Airspace is currently closed. All Indian nationals are advised to remain vigilant, avoid unnecessary movement, and adhere to safety protocols as instructed by Israeli authorities and the home front command,' the advisory further stated. Earlier, on June 13, coinciding with Israel's attack on Iran, Indian embassies in both nations had issued warnings urging nationals to stay alert, limit movements, and follow safety guidelines provided by local authorities.
