Advisories Issued for Indian Nationals in Iran
In the early hours of Friday, following an Israeli strike targeting Iran's nuclear program, both the Iranian and Israeli embassies have issued separate advisories urging Indian citizens and those of Indian descent to remain vigilant and adhere to local security protocols. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed the initiation of Operation Rising Lion, asserting that Israeli forces conducted strikes on key nuclear enrichment facilities in Natanz, Iran, along with other strategic sites.
Travel Warnings for Indians in Iran
The Indian embassy has advised its nationals in Iran to exercise caution, avoid unnecessary activities, and follow security protocols in light of the Israeli attacks aimed at curbing Iran's nuclear ambitions. The embassy's advisory stated, 'Given the current situation in Iran, all Indian nationals and persons of Indian origin are requested to remain vigilant, avoid all unnecessary movements, follow the Embassy’s Social Media accounts, and observe safety protocols as advised by local authorities.'
Casualties Reported from Israeli Strikes
Prime Minister Netanyahu indicated that the strikes were directed at Iran's nuclear and military installations. Iranian state television confirmed the death of General Hossein Salami, the head of Iran's Revolutionary Guard, amid escalating tensions between the two nations. Reports suggest that the Israeli attack may have also resulted in the deaths of another senior guard officer and two nuclear scientists. Netanyahu emphasized that the strikes were necessary to prevent an imminent nuclear threat, while Israel has warned of potential retaliation, including attacks on civilians.
