Jeddah: The Indian Consulate in Jeddah has pledged its "complete support and assistance" to Indian citizens receiving medical care in a local hospital after sustaining injuries from recent events in Jazan.

In a statement shared on X, the Consulate emphasized its ongoing communication with hospital officials and the affected individuals and their families.

Consul General Fahad Suri personally visited the Indian nationals at Dr. Soliman Fakeeh Hospital in Jeddah, where he inquired about their health and interacted with them, reassuring them of the Consulate's unwavering support, although the exact number of injured nationals was not disclosed.

As reported by Arab News, two individuals were injured when a projectile fired by Yemen's Houthis hit the Al-Tuwal governorate in Jazan on Saturday. However, the Indian Consulate has not confirmed if the injured nationals at the Jeddah hospital were victims of this specific incident.

This attack occurred amidst escalating tensions in the area, following a series of missile and drone assaults on Saudi Arabia's southern regions by the Houthis in recent days.

Last week, the Houthis targeted civilian and economic sites in Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jazan, and Najran, resulting in injuries to 73 individuals, including women and children.
