On Sunday, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) revealed that Ibrahim Muhammad Ghazali, the sibling of the individual who drove a vehicle into Temple Israel in West Bloomfield, Michigan, was a commander in Hezbollah. He was reportedly in charge of weapon operations for the group's Badr Unit, which has been implicated in launching numerous rockets at Israeli civilians amid the ongoing conflict with Iran.

The assailant, Ayman Muhammad Ghazali, aged 41, was killed after crashing his vehicle, which was loaded with fireworks and gasoline, into the synagogue. He engaged in a shootout with a security guard before ultimately taking his own life as he became trapped in the burning car.

Temple Israel, the targeted location, is among the largest Reform synagogues in the nation, featuring a school and an early childhood center. On the day of the incident, 140 children, teachers, and staff were present, but fortunately, none were harmed. Officials credited the swift and effective response of the synagogue's private security for preventing a potential tragedy. Senator Elissa Slotkin emphasized the importance of their actions, stating, "If they had not all done their jobs almost perfectly, we would be talking about an immense tragedy here with children gone."
