HBA Foundation Launches Nationwide Drowning Prevention Campaign on World Drowning Prevention Day
A Tribute to Advaitha Verma
In a poignant homage to a young life lost, the Hemant Bala Advaitha (HBA) Foundation is set to initiate a nationwide Drowning Prevention Awareness Campaign on July 25, 2025, aligning with the United Nations-recognized World Drowning Prevention Day. This campaign is dedicated to the memory of Advaitha Verma, an 18-year-old musical talent and Symbiosis student who tragically drowned in Pawna Lake, Lonavala, on June 23, 2024.
Turning Grief into Action
Advaitha’s untimely passing marked a significant turning point for his parents, Sudesh Verma and Renu Kaul Verma, who transformed their sorrow into a lifelong commitment to educate the public about drowning prevention. Their goal is to save lives by raising awareness. While Pawna Lake and other picturesque lakes in Lonavala may seem serene, their deceptive calm conceals perilous dangers that have claimed many young lives, including that of Advaitha.
A Call for Solidarity
Sudesh and Renu Kaul Verma have channeled their profound loss into a mission to save others. Sudesh stated, “With every drowning, our society must rise like a symphony—not in silence, but in solidarity.” Renu added, “Each life saved will honor Advaitha and countless others whose aspirations were cut short by preventable accidents.”
