Widespread Access Issues Reported


On Sunday, Facebook experienced a significant outage, impacting users in various countries who were unable to access their accounts or utilize essential features, as reported by an outage monitoring service.


At approximately 10:39 a.m. ET, Downdetector noted a dramatic increase in outage reports, with complaints skyrocketing to 3,555 within just five minutes.


Many users faced difficulties logging into their accounts and using fundamental Facebook functionalities. Additionally, some reported issues with uploading photos or videos and sending messages via Messenger.


The desktop version of Facebook seemed to be more affected by the outage, with numerous users receiving a notification stating: "Account Temporarily Unavailable. Your account is currently unavailable due to a site issue. We expect this to be resolved shortly. Please try again in a few minutes."


Reports of the outage also came from Canada, the United Kingdom, India, and Türkiye. While some users could still access Facebook on mobile devices, desktop browsers were largely unresponsive.


According to Downdetector, 62% of the reported problems were associated with the website, while 21% were related to mobile devices, and 11% pertained to the app.


As of the time of this report, Meta had not provided an official explanation regarding the outage.
