Former Pakistan Army Chief Qamar Javed Bajwa Faces Health Crisis
Health Concerns for General Bajwa
Reports indicate that Qamar Javed Bajwa, the former Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan, is currently in a precarious health situation following a head injury sustained earlier this year. Allegedly, General Bajwa suffered serious health issues after a fall in his bathroom last month. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) of Pakistan’s armed forces has confirmed that he is receiving treatment in a hospital.
As per ISPR, Bajwa may have either slipped or fainted at his residence in Rawalpindi, potentially due to a heart-related incident, possibly a cardiac arrest. He was taken to the Combined Military Hospital, where he is reportedly on the mend, according to the IRGC.
Family members have stated that Bajwa's condition is stable. Initially, he was responsive and aware, able to recognize those around him. Various diagnostic tests and medical evaluations conducted at that time showed no alarming issues, leading to descriptions of him being out of danger.
However, in March, unverified reports emerged suggesting that he experienced severe complications, possibly due to a brain hemorrhage, which resulted in memory loss, disorientation, and other health challenges.
Military's Stance on Bajwa's Condition
Neither the Pakistani military nor Bajwa's family has confirmed the reports regarding his brain hemorrhage or other health complications.
General Bajwa held the position of Army Chief from 2016 until 2022. His tenure was marked by several significant military operations, including the attacks in Uri in 2016 and Pulwama in 2019 against India. Additionally, some sources claim that he played a pivotal role in the ousting of former Prime Minister Imran Khan during a no-confidence vote.
