FBI Probes Disturbing Livestream of San Diego Islamic Center Shooting
Investigation into Livestreamed Attack
The FBI is currently examining footage that was allegedly livestreamed by the individuals involved in the tragic shooting at the Islamic Center of San Diego, as reported by various sources. This disturbing video, which has circulated extensively on social media, purportedly documents the attack in real-time, including the moments leading to the deaths of the two assailants.
The footage, reportedly captured via a body camera, allegedly features 17-year-old Cain Clark and 18-year-old Caleb Velasquez entering the Islamic Center while armed and opening fire. At one point, the video shows the suspects near a body and a pool of blood before they escape in a BMW.
Subsequent clips reportedly depict Clark in the driver's seat of the vehicle, brandishing a pistol. He is said to have shot Velasquez before reloading and firing again, ultimately turning the weapon on himself. Authorities later discovered both suspects deceased inside the BMW, just a few blocks from the mosque.
The shooting resulted in three fatalities. Investigators also found anti-Islamic materials in the suspects' vehicle, and it was reported that 'hate speech' was inscribed on the firearms used during the incident. A shotgun and a gas can with an 'SS' sticker, which is believed to reference the Nazi Schutzstaffel, were also recovered from the scene where the suspects' bodies were located.
Law enforcement officials indicated that at least one of the suspects left a suicide note that expressed themes of racial pride and mentioned a weapon taken from a parent's residence. San Diego police responded to the active shooter reports around 11:43 AM on Monday, arriving within four minutes. Police Chief Scott Wahl confirmed that three adult males were found deceased outside the mosque and highlighted the crucial role played by a mosque security guard in aiding the officers during the incident. Fortunately, no children were harmed during the attack, and the FBI is providing support for the ongoing investigation.
