Family Speaks Out Amid Grief

The relatives of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez, whose tragic passing has resulted in the arrest of a California singer, have publicly expressed their sorrow for the first time. In a heartfelt statement, Celeste's parents described her as "a beautiful, strong girl who loved to sing and dance." They extended their gratitude to the Los Angeles Police Department and the District Attorney’s Office for their diligent efforts, as well as to the community of Lake Elsinore for their support. They reminisced about their cherished Friday movie nights together, stating, "We love her very much and she always told us that she loved us. We miss her deeply. All we want is justice for Celeste." This statement was shared through the family’s attorney, Patrick Steinfeld.

Authorities have arrested David Burke, known in the music industry as D4vd, in connection with this case. He faces serious charges, including first-degree murder with special circumstances such as the murder of a witness, financial gain, and premeditated killing. Nathan Hochman announced these charges, which also include lewd acts with a minor under 14 and body mutilation. Prosecutors claim that the charge of "murder of a witness" pertains to Celeste's involvement in a separate investigation regarding alleged sexual offenses. They believe the financial motive stems from Burke's fear that the allegations could jeopardize his music career. Burke has pleaded not guilty to all accusations.

Investigators revealed that Celeste went missing after visiting Burke's residence in April 2025. Her dismembered remains were found months later, in September, inside the trunk of a Tesla associated with Burke. The vehicle had been towed to a yard, where workers noticed a strong odor. Authorities assert that the murder occurred in April 2025, with the dismemberment happening the following month. Further details surrounding the circumstances of her death have not been disclosed. Speculation online suggested that the teenager and Burke may have had prior acquaintance and had appeared together at various events. The investigation into this case is ongoing.
