Pentagon Evacuated Due to Air Quality Concerns

According to sources familiar with the situation, the recent lockdown and evacuation at the Pentagon were prompted by a false alarm. Reports indicated that several floors and hallways within the building were secured, while others were evacuated due to a potential 'hazardous materials incident,' as stated by local fire department officials.

Sean Parnell, a spokesperson for the Pentagon, mentioned that internal systems had identified an air quality concern that necessitated precautionary actions. He explained that standard safety protocols were initiated, which included a shelter-in-place directive for the impacted areas, and response teams were dispatched to assess the situation.

The hazardous materials unit from the Pentagon Force Protection Agency, along with the Arlington County Fire Department, responded to the incident. The Arlington Fire & EMS service confirmed that their hazardous materials team was active at the scene during the event.

A message circulated within the Pentagon indicated that further air quality assessments were in progress and could take between one to two hours. It also advised occupants not to misinterpret the visible emergency response activities.

During the response, floors two through five, particularly corridors four through seven, were secured. Some personnel were observed wearing gas masks and chemical protective gear as a precautionary measure.
