The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that these operations commenced at 5:30 PM ET, following directives from President Donald Trump. CENTCOM stated that the goal of these strikes is to diminish Iran's capacity to pose threats to civilian shipping and commercial vessels in the area. Specific locations targeted in Iran were not disclosed.
