Dubai: A vessel belonging to the state-run ADNOC oil and gas firm from Abu Dhabi was reportedly attacked while navigating through the Strait of Hormuz, according to Emirati officials. The Foreign Ministry indicated that Iran launched the missile as part of a broader campaign against commercial shipping.

In a statement, ADNOC confirmed that there were no injuries resulting from the early Saturday attack. The company noted that since the onset of hostilities involving the United States and Israel against Iran in February, over a dozen of its ships have faced missile and drone assaults while traversing the strait. This has resulted in one fatality and injuries to 20 crew members.

ADNOC did not provide specific details regarding the location of the attack or any potential damage incurred.

Subsequently, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations Centre reported that a vessel located east of Khasab, Oman, had been hit by a projectile, igniting a fire that was extinguished, with both the vessel and crew remaining unharmed. It remains uncertain if this incident is related to the ADNOC attack.

Meanwhile, Iran and Oman have been in discussions regarding an agreement to oversee the management of the waterway, which was previously regarded as an international passage before the conflict.
