Celebrating Women’s Empowerment at the WIAA Women's Car Rally

Mumbai, March 28: The WIAA Women's Car Rally to Valley 2026 commenced from NSCI, Mumbai, on Saturday, featuring a vibrant ceremony that combined the excitement of a festival with a strong message of empowerment.

More than 200 women took part in the rally, showcasing vehicles decorated with themes focusing on women's empowerment, cancer awareness, gender equality, and other significant causes as they embarked on their journey towards Khopoli. The event was inaugurated by Nitin Dossa, Chairman of the Western India Automobile Association (WIAA), alongside officials from JK Tyre, creating a lively atmosphere at NSCI even before the engines roared to life.

Participants donned themed outfits, and their vehicles were embellished to reflect their chosen causes, while families and supporters gathered to cheer, giving the event a festive ambiance.

This rally utilized the Time-Speed-Distance (TSD) format, emphasizing precision, consistency, and teamwork rather than speed. Unlike traditional races, the TSD format rewards accuracy and strategic pacing as competitors navigate from Mumbai through hilly terrains, covering around 125 km before arriving at the Novotel Imagicaa hotel, making it a true test of both strategy and driving skills.

Srinivasu Allaphan, Director of Sales & Marketing at JK Tyre & Industries, remarked, “For over ten years, we have been dedicated to promoting women's involvement in motorsport, and the JK Tyre–WIAA Women’s Car Rally to Valley exemplifies that commitment. Now recognized as a premier event, the rally not only celebrates the spirit of motorsport but also highlights crucial social issues. We are inspired by the enthusiastic participation as we strive to enhance awareness about road safety.”

Organized by the Western India Automobile Association (WIAA), a non-profit organization with a 107-year legacy focused on safe mobility, road safety awareness, environmental sustainability, and policy advocacy, this rally has transformed from a competitive motorsport event into a dynamic platform that honors womanhood and resilience, while emphasizing the critical need for women's safety on the roads. This year's edition reinforced these values with renewed vigor, resonating with global road safety campaigns like #CommitToLife and #BeSafeBeStrong.

Over the years, JK Tyre has established a robust presence in Indian motorsport and has actively supported initiatives aimed at promoting women in this field. Their partnership with the WIAA Women's Car Rally to Valley reflects a belief that motorsport can serve as a powerful catalyst for change, both on and off the road.
