Elavenil Valarivan Celebrated After Asian Games Silver Wins

Elavenil Valarivan, a double silver medalist at the Asian Games, was greeted with enthusiasm upon her return to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad on Sunday. Valarivan emphasized that her primary goal is to deliver her best performance rather than fixate on winning medals. She reflected on her potential for better results during peak performances but noted that numerous championships lie ahead.

Acknowledging Support

Valarivan expressed gratitude for the robust support she has received from various organizations, including the Sports Authority of Gujarat, the Gujarat Government Sports Department, Gun for Glory Shooting Academy, and educational institutions like Vijay Bharti and Sanskar Dham. Looking forward, she mentioned her desire to spend quality time with family and friends while keeping the 2028 Olympics in her sights.

'It Takes a Village'

"Our focus is always on performing our best rather than being overly concerned with medals. While the outcomes could have been more favorable on my best days, there are many upcoming competitions to concentrate on now. I believe in the saying, 'It takes a village to raise a child,' which resonates with my journey. It all began in Gujarat with the MoU between the Sports Authority of Gujarat, the Government of Gujarat, and the Gun for Glory Shooting Academy, along with support from schools like Vijay Bharti and Sanskar Dham," Valarivan shared.

"Every team I’ve been part of, whether it’s Gun for Glory, the Gujarat State Government Sports Department, or Vijay Bharti, has provided tremendous support. For now, I just want to return home and enjoy time with my loved ones. The 2028 Olympics are on the horizon, but my current focus is on the present," she added.

Achievements at the Asian Games

Valarivan secured silver in the women's 10m air rifle team event alongside teammates Sonam Maskar and Vidarsa Vinod, followed by another silver in the individual women's 10m air rifle event on the same day.
