Fire Continues To Spread As Residents Evacuated
By 6:54 PM, police reported that the fire was advancing towards homes located south of the already impacted area. Residents on Neptunveien were instructed to evacuate as a safety measure, with the Civil Defense aiding in the evacuation process. The affected zone extended from Plutobakken in the north to Neptunveien in the south. Fortunately, no injuries or missing persons among residents have been reported, although one firefighter did suffer minor injuries while addressing the emergency.
Emergency teams initiated a comprehensive firefighting operation both on the ground and from the air. Helicopters were deployed to assist in combating the flames, but officials noted that adverse weather conditions and limited water access were complicating their efforts. Authorities confirmed that the fire had also spread into the surrounding terrain above the housing estate. Loud explosions were reported in the vicinity, leading officials to advise the public to maintain a safe distance.
An emergency alert issued by authorities highlighted the "risk of explosion and heavy smoke." Officials characterized the fire as intense, with a significant potential for further spread throughout the residential area and adjacent terrain. Fire crews from various departments were mobilized, with emergency responders stating that all available resources were being utilized to contain the blaze.
