Debunking Fake Infographics on India-Pakistan Conflict

Misleading Infographics Circulate on Social Media
In recent times, misleading posts have become increasingly common, particularly infographics related to the India-Pakistan conflict. One such graphic, which inaccurately presents statistics on drone losses, soldier fatalities, civilian casualties, and damage to airbases, has gained traction on social media platforms. This infographic, which attempts to compare data between India and Pakistan, misleadingly features the logo of a well-known international news outlet to enhance its credibility. However, the Fact Check unit of the Press Information Bureau (PIB) has verified that this infographic is completely fabricated.
Exaggerated Claims in the Infographic
The infographic claims inflated figures for Indian losses, including 6 aircraft downed, 553 drones lost, and 11 airbases impacted, while downplaying Pakistani casualties. Clearly marked as 'FAKE' by PIB Fact Check, it falsely claimed that these losses were acknowledged by Indian sources and even credited former U.S. President Donald Trump for 'curbing India’s losses.'
PIB's Clarification
The PIB has stated that the data presented in the infographic misrepresents the military losses of both nations and misuses the CNN logo. They confirmed that CNN has never published any such infographic or story and urged the public to be cautious of misleading content circulating online.
Statements from the Indian Armed Forces
In a significant update amidst the ongoing ceasefire between India and Pakistan, the Indian armed forces conducted a joint press conference. They elaborated on the events surrounding Operation Sindoor and the subsequent military actions taken in response to the Pahalgam terror attack. The armed forces provided detailed accounts of casualties and emphasized India's strategic gains during and after Operation Sindoor, reporting that between May 7 and May 10, 35-40 personnel from the Pakistan Army were killed at the Line of Control.
Details of the Airstrikes on May 7
In a decisive response to terrorist activities emanating from Pakistan, the Indian Air Force executed airstrikes late Tuesday night, targeting locations within Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). These strikes successfully hit nine terrorist hideouts across seven cities, reportedly resulting in the deaths of over 100 terrorists. This operation, named 'Operation Sindoor,' honors the women who lost their husbands during the Pahalgam attack on April 22.
