Dan Bilzerian's Congressional Bid

Social media personality Dan Bilzerian, recognized for his extravagant lifestyle and gun-related posts, has officially announced his candidacy for Congress in Florida. His entry into the race targets Republican Congressman Randy Fine, who has strong ties to Donald Trump. Bilzerian, aged 45, filed his candidacy for Florida's 6th congressional district on Tuesday, as per the Federal Election Commission records. He had previously hinted at his political ambitions in a post on X, stating, "I'm going to run against fat f--k @RepFine for Congress."

Randy Fine, 51, was elected to his position in a special election held in April 2025, filling the vacancy left by Mike Waltz, who departed Congress to serve as the US ambassador to the United Nations under Trump. When asked about Bilzerian's campaign in March, Fine remarked, "I don't know anything about him." A spokesperson for Fine downplayed the challenge, emphasizing his strong support from Trump, stating, "Congressman Randy Fine is the only individual in America that President Trump has endorsed three times in the past two years, including for his current reelection." The statement further asserted that Fine would not waver in defending Trump against any impeachment efforts.

Bilzerian, who boasts millions of followers online, has faced backlash for his controversial posts, which many have labeled conspiratorial and offensive. He has been accused of antisemitism by broadcaster Piers Morgan after insinuating that Jewish individuals were responsible for events such as the September 11 attacks and the Iraq War. In a post on X last year, Bilzerian stated, "At this point, the label ‘antisemite' is a badge of honor." He has also frequently criticized Fine on social media, tagging him in numerous posts since Fine's election. In one recent comment, Bilzerian wrote: "Hey look it's jew first, Israel second and America last randy fine."

Bilzerian is the son of Paul Bilzerian, and both have been vocal on social media, particularly regarding US policies towards Iran. Fine has dismissed calls from critics, including some Democratic lawmakers, to invoke the 25th Amendment of the US Constitution in light of Trump's threats against Iran. Conversely, Bilzerian has supported such measures, claiming in a post on X, "Trump is an extreme narcissist, he's going to nuke Iran because his ego can't handle that he's losing the war and his lies will be exposed. 25th amendment." Fine has also drawn criticism for his past remarks, including a statement made last month where he said, "If they force us to choose, the choice between dogs and Muslims is not a difficult one." In December 2023, he reacted to images of Palestinians awaiting humanitarian aid by posting, "Stop the trucks. Let them eat rockets. There are plenty of those. #BombsAway." Earlier this year, he controversially stated that "Palestinian is a synonym for evil."
