Tragic Incident at Bargi Dam
Jabalpur witnessed a tragic event on Thursday when a cruise capsized at the Bargi Dam due to a sudden storm. The cruise, filled with tourists, sank in the Narmada River in Madhya Pradesh during the evening hours. According to police reports, six bodies have been recovered, while 18 individuals were rescued safely. Unfortunately, more than 15 people remain unaccounted for.
SP Anjul Mishra from Bargi stated that the cruise operated by MP Tourism had between 40 to 45 passengers on board when the unexpected storm struck.
Upon receiving news of the incident, the SDRF team was dispatched for a rescue operation. However, the darkness posed challenges for the rescuers, who are utilizing large torches to search for the missing individuals.
The cruise, which has been in operation for 20 years, was constructed in 2006 and is designed to accommodate 60 passengers. Another cruise in the area is currently out of service.
