Concerns Rise for Former 'Alaskan Bush People' Star Matt Brown
Growing Worries for Matt Brown
There is increasing concern for Matt Brown, a former star of 'Alaskan Bush People,' as his brother Bear Brown expressed fears that he may have passed away following an incident near a river in Washington state. In a heartfelt TikTok video, Bear revealed that he had received information suggesting that Matt, aged 42, might have taken his own life, although he emphasized that he could not verify this claim.
Bear stated in the video, “I’m being told that late last night Matt took his own life. I can’t confirm that’s true, but witnesses reported seeing him near a river.” He mentioned that witnesses had contacted authorities after allegedly spotting Matt close to the river, and at the time of his recording, search efforts had not yet found a body.
“So far they haven’t been able to find any body,” Bear added. “I can’t confirm it 100 percent, but it looks like it is.” The Okanogan County Sheriff’s Office later informed a media outlet that a 911 caller had reported seeing a man sitting in shallow water along the Okanogan River, south of Oroville, Washington. The caller briefly looked away and then heard a noise, only to see the man face down in the river, being carried away by the current.
Emergency services, including police and firefighters, conducted a search of the area but were unable to recover a body. Officials indicated that search operations would resume once weather conditions improved.
During his emotional TikTok message, Bear reflected on Matt’s ongoing battle with addiction. He recounted a recent phone call after the brothers unexpectedly met at a Walmart before Bear headed to Florida. “He called me after that and said he had fallen off the wagon,” Bear recalled. “I told him, ‘Well, get back on it, man. Everybody falls off.’”
Bear also dismissed accusations that the Brown family had abandoned Matt, explaining that the situation was more complex than many understood. He urged viewers to refrain from criticizing their mother, Ami Brown, stating, “Please be respectful to the family, especially my mom. She cares deeply for Matt and always has.”
These troubling reports come just days after Matt shared a concerning video in which he mentioned sleeping in a cemetery because he felt unsafe elsewhere. Matt has openly discussed his struggles with alcohol addiction and left 'Alaskan Bush People' in 2019 to pursue treatment.
