China Strengthens Economic Ties with Sri Lanka Amid Political Stability
China's Commitment to Sri Lanka's Economic Growth
Colombo: A senior Chinese official has expressed a desire to boost economic cooperation with Sri Lanka, highlighting the nation's current political and economic stability.
During a recent meeting with President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, Chinese Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao reaffirmed China's readiness to assist Sri Lanka.
Wang emphasized that the political and economic stability in Sri Lanka, coupled with the clear policy direction from President Dissanayake's government, has sparked increased interest from Chinese investors in the country, according to a statement from the president's office.
The minister's visit, which included over 100 Chinese investors, underscores a strong commitment to fostering economic ties between the two nations.
A primary goal of Wang's visit is to follow up on agreements made during President Dissanayake's recent trip to China.
The discussions also covered the timely progress of ongoing development projects in Sri Lanka with the backing of the Chinese government.
Dissanayake's trip to China in mid-January followed his visit to India in December, marking his first overseas engagement since taking office in September.
