Washington, June 22: Next week, US President Donald Trump will lead the launch of a year-long celebration marking the 250th anniversary of America. This significant event will take place on the iconic National Mall, featuring military flyovers, cultural displays, state pavilions, and a program aimed at highlighting the nation's rich history, innovation, and identity as it approaches its semiquincentennial in 2026.

The festivities will officially commence on June 24 with the Great American State Fair, a 16-day exposition in Washington, described by organizers as a contemporary world's fair that honors the people, traditions, achievements, and spirit of the United States. The fair will run from June 25 to July 10 and is set to be one of the key events leading up to the 250th anniversary of American independence.

Freedom 250, the official public-private partnership overseeing the anniversary celebrations, is organizing the event, which will transform large areas of the National Mall into a vibrant showcase of American culture, technology, business, agriculture, military heritage, and civic life. Over 150 exhibits from all 50 states and six U.S. territories are anticipated to participate.

The fair's programming will revolve around daily themes that reflect various facets of the American experience.

The opening day on June 25, titled "The American Canon," will emphasize the architecture, infrastructure, and culture that have shaped the nation. Following days will focus on agriculture, land stewardship, arts and culture, military service, health and wellness, technology and innovation, faith and values, entrepreneurship, family life, and education.

Additionally, the program will showcase exhibitions dedicated to emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, robotics, energy innovation, and space exploration.

Organizers have stated that the fair aims to not only reflect on the country's past but also to envision its future.

A major attraction will be Rodeo 250, a daily live performance that chronicles the evolution of the American cowboy and the culture of the American West. Produced by Cervi Rodeo Company, this program will blend horsemanship, western entertainment, storytelling, and cultural performances.

Keith Krach, CEO of Freedom 250, remarked, "For generations, the cowboy has embodied the best of the American spirit — grit, determination, self-reliance, and optimism. Rodeo 250 is not just a western showcase; it's a celebration of the values and traditions that helped build our nation."

Attendees will also find state pavilions, industry displays, family attractions, military ensembles, cultural programming, movie screenings, and a striking Ferris wheel overlooking the National Mall.

The celebrations will culminate on Independence Day with "Salute to America," a grand event featuring Trump, national leaders, decorated veterans, and military demonstrations. This program will include patriotic performances, storytelling, and tributes that span 250 years of American history.

The day will kick off with the American Veterans Center Salute to America Parade, followed by aerial demonstrations over Washington.

Participating aviation teams are expected to include the US Air Force Thunderbirds, the US Navy Blue Angels, the F-22 Raptor Demo Team, and the Marine Corps F-35B Lightning II Demo Team. More than 300 members from military bands, orchestras, choruses, and ceremonial units are scheduled to perform together.

The evening will conclude with what Freedom 250 describes as the largest fireworks display in history.

"America's story is one of ordinary people achieving extraordinary things," Krach stated. "This Independence Day, we will honor the men and women who built this nation, defended its freedoms, enriched it, and passed its blessings on to future generations."

As part of the anniversary events, Trump is also set to visit Medora, North Dakota, on July 1 for the dedication of the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library. This event will celebrate the legacy of the 26th US president, whose conservation efforts significantly influenced America's national parks system and public land stewardship.

Krach added, "Theodore Roosevelt's life embodies the American story: tested by hardship, reshaped by the frontier, and committed to a cause greater than himself. As America marks 250 years of freedom, Freedom 250 is privileged to inaugurate a library that will carry his legacy to millions."
