Capital One App Experiences Major Disruption


Numerous users encountered difficulties with the Capital One application, with thousands reporting problems amid a suspected outage. Data from Down Detector indicated that close to 4,000 complaints were logged, highlighting a significant disruption. Many individuals took to social media platform X to express their frustrations, with several stating they could not access their accounts. A frequently seen error message stated: “We ran into a snag trying to retrieve your account details, but we're working on it,” which only added to the users' annoyance.


In response to the complaints on X, the support team for Capital One acknowledged the situation but noted that they had not yet received any formal communication from their technical department. Their response read: “Hey there! Thank you for reaching out to us today in regard to this matter. We're hearing from customers that there may be an issue at play, but we haven't received an official communication from our tech team.”


Later, the company confirmed the existence of the issue, stating: “We have identified a known issue affecting this online banking display. We appreciate you working through this with us, and we'd recommend checking back in later. If you need something addressed on your account immediately, connecting with us via phone is the way to go.” They advised users to revisit the app later and suggested that for urgent matters, contacting customer support by phone would be the best course of action.
