Strengthening Bangladesh-China Relations
Beijing: Khalilur Rahman, the Foreign Minister of Bangladesh, is on his first official trip to China, where he engaged in discussions with Wang Huning, a prominent political advisor in China. Their meeting focused on enhancing the bilateral relationship between the two nations.
Wang Huning holds a significant position as a member of the high-ranking Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China and serves as the chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC).
During their conversation, Wang emphasized China's commitment to fostering amicable relations with Bangladesh, grounded in the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence.
He urged both nations to enhance high-level exchanges, provide mutual support, and deepen collaboration across various sectors, aiming for a more profound and meaningful development of the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between China and Bangladesh, as reported by the state-run Xinhua news agency.
Rahman expressed that China is a steadfast ally of Bangladesh, which prioritizes its relationship with Beijing in its foreign policy. He reaffirmed Bangladesh's adherence to the one-China principle, its unwavering belief in UN General Assembly Resolution 2758, and its strong support for China's national reunification.
Looking ahead, Rahman expressed Bangladesh's eagerness to continue nurturing its historical friendship with China, enhance practical cooperation, and elevate their bilateral relations to new heights. This visit follows a recent trip by a delegation from the ruling Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), led by Secretary-General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, who met with Chinese Vice President Han Zheng, marking the first political engagement between the two countries since the new government took office in Dhaka.
