Allegations of Child Abuse by Israeli Forces in Gaza Spark Outrage
Disturbing Claims of Torture Involving a Child
Reports from Palestine TV indicate that Israeli soldiers allegedly tortured a one-year-old child in central Gaza to coerce his father into confessing during an interrogation. The child, named Karim, reportedly suffered injuries after being detained near the Al-Maghazi refugee camp. Footage shared by the broadcaster displayed visible wounds on the child.
Witnesses mentioned that the child's father, Osama Abu Nassar, was caught in crossfire while taking his son to purchase supplies. Allegedly, Israeli soldiers compelled him to leave the child on the ground and approach a military checkpoint, where he was stripped and interrogated.
The report further claimed that during the father's detention, the child endured abuse, including burn injuries and puncture wounds. A medical report referenced by the broadcaster indicated injuries consistent with cigarette burns and wounds on the leg. After approximately 10 hours, the child was released and handed over to his family through the International Committee of the Red Cross, while the father remains in custody.
These allegations have yet to be independently verified. In related news, Israeli forces reportedly attacked several Palestinian villages in the West Bank, resulting in injuries to at least 10 individuals and the destruction of homes and vehicles. This violence coincided with reports of four Palestinians killed in separate Israeli strikes in Gaza.
The Palestinian Red Crescent Society reported injuries in Deir al-Hatab, near Nablus, including a 45-year-old man shot in the foot and a woman suffering from smoke inhalation. Videos captured the destruction as vehicles and homes burned, illuminated by flares over the village close to the Israeli settlement of Elon Moreh.
Tensions in the West Bank have escalated, with increased incidents of violence, including arson and shootings, attributed to Israeli forces. According to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, at least 25 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli soldiers this year as of mid-March.
In Gaza, four Palestinians were reported killed in Israeli strikes on Sunday, including three police officers in the Nuseirat refugee camp and another individual in Gaza City. The Israeli military has not commented on these strikes but has stated that it responds to ceasefire violations and threats to its personnel. Despite a ceasefire agreement established in October to end hostilities between Israel and Hamas, violence continues to erupt in the region.
