Adani International School Hosts National Chess Championship for Young Players
Adani International School Champions Youth Chess
Adani International School (ADIS) is dedicated to enhancing the sports environment in schools and is currently hosting the ISSO National Games Chess Competition 2026. This event has attracted over 425 young chess enthusiasts from more than 100 schools across 10 states. The two-day championship in Ahmedabad is expected to see participation from over 800 individuals, including students, parents, coaches, and school representatives.
The national tournament is divided into four age categories: Under 11, Under 14, Under 17, and Under 19. This structure allows competitors to face off against their peers from various regions, testing their skills in concentration, decision-making, and the ability to maintain composure under pressure.
Inauguration by Grandmaster Praggnanandhaa
The event was inaugurated by Indian Chess Grandmaster Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa, alongside Namrata Adani, an Advisory Board Member of ISSO and a promoter of ADIS. Their engagement with the young participants added a special touch to the championship, which emphasizes competitive spirit and sportsmanship. The inauguration was also attended by Gujarat’s Deputy Chief Minister Shri Harsh Sanghavi and Pranav Adani, Director of Adani Enterprises Limited.

Namrata Adani remarked, "Chess encourages youth to think strategically, make informed decisions, and remain calm in uncertain situations. These skills are invaluable beyond the chessboard. Events like this provide students with the discipline to prepare, the confidence to compete, and the opportunity to learn from each match, regardless of the outcome."
